SCVBHS CHIRAYANKEEZH WEEK 6 (19 JULY 2023- 21 JULY 2023)

Sixth Week

Next round of Class Observation

At the start of the week, our optional teacher, Reetha Ma'am had paid a visit to the school for the class observation. Since my classes were already observed by the teacher during her previous visit, I was kind of free. She went to observe both Resmi's and Anjana varma's classes, and made remarks based on their classes. She gave suggestions to improve the classes further and later had a chitchat with the rest of us. During the last period , I went to class VIII along with Indrajith.

Accompanying my peers to the classes gave me a new and different feeling each time, to be as a supporting peer, to make remarks and suggestions, to improve myself as a teacher, to gain new insights into the teaching process and practice, etc.

The next day , I had utilized some time to observe the class of Anjana Varma. Eventhough she struggled a bit initially, she managed to take it under her control but at the same time , allowed more space for the students to perform and participate. I felt that she required more practice on her pronunciation. I found the use of film clips added extra charm to make the class more interesting and to a certain extent, effective. It was a good class , altogether.

On the next day, it was a hectic day due to the absence of more teachers. We had to attend a lot of classes as per the schedule. Moreover, me and Indrajith had worked together to prepare the questions for the diagnostic test. During the sixth period, as per the request of my peer, Indrajith, I went to VIII D to engage them with the story 'The Shipwrecked Sailor' . I found the class difficult to manage, but soon was able to get it on track. Some of the students seemed restless but I managed to maintain the discipline and to make the students attentive.
